Daniel Evan White (1933-2012) was an architect known for his strong geometric designs and meticulous attention to detail. Graduating from the University of British Columbia School of Architecture in 1962, he embarked on a more than four-decade-long career, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of architecturally significant single- and multi-family dwellings in the Lower Mainland.
During his career, White was the first employee of renowned architects Arthur Erickson and Geoff Massey. While he traded ideas with his more celebrated peers, he took a slightly different path, forging his own unique approach to architecture. Unlike many of his contemporaries, White did not draw inspiration from other architects' work or architectural magazines; he preferred to start each project with a blank slate.
Though highly sought after as a residential architect, Daniel Evan White remained relatively unknown within the local architectural community, never achieving the notoriety of some of his peers. However, his works stand as a testament to his artistic vision and lasting impact on the architectural landscape of the region.
